Apache Toolbox

Apache Toolbox provides tools for compiling Apache (IPv4/6) SSL, PHP (v3/v4), MySQL, Jakarta, a large number of modules (61 3rd party modules and 36 default Apache modules, static or as DSOs), and GD libraries with PNG+JPEG+Freetype2+zlib support.

Apache Toolbox is fully customizable and menu-driven software. It compiles everything from its source. However the missing source can easily be obtained by wget.

Apache Toolbox also acts as a mean for compiling Java Development Kit, Java API for XML Parsing, and Java Secure Sockets Extension.

Apache Toolbox was originally developed by Bryan Andrew. It is often referred as a ‘Swiss army knife’ of a script, which provides a customizable, menu-driven interface for downloading and compiling a LAMP installation.

The Apache Toolbox provides support for:
· Apache web server
· Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for secure web server interactions
· PHP, mod_perl, and mod_fastcgi - for fast scripting language support
· MySQL database server
· WebDAV and mod_layout - for simple but powerful Web design functionality
· Efficient hosting and server control

Apache Toolbox comes in two different flavors – either only the script, which downloads various component sources as required, or the full package, including the script and all required sources.

The Apache Toolbox itself is simply a shell script that runs from the command-line.
