Freemercator Java POS
Freemercator is the open source Point-of-Scale terminal and Back Office written in Java. The current version of the Freemercator is version 0.8.0. Freemercator works in Win32 environment and requires the support of OS Independent operating system. Freemercator is released and distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
Freemercator Java POS is a strong tool to control and optimize business transactions. Freemercator provides multiple tenders for transaction, credits, and gift tenders. Complete support to the Sale Discount and discount from the customer card is available in Freemercator and is applied to all items that are already in transaction.
Command line tools support the Freemercator user to reload data from ‘.xml’ files. Freemercator reads and writes two types of XML files. One file describes all the tables needed to support the functionality and another is the sample data set with three default configurations.
The major limitation of this software is the default HSQL database; this database is preloaded with the schema and data. HSQL database can be used by one process at a time. The user needs to reload the schema again if he/ she switches to the Database Back End. Above all, this Back Office software is very user friendly and platform independent. The user can change the screen size. The size and width parameters are stored in the database of Freemercator, and the user can edit the appearance.
