Fisterra is the open source GENOME development framework, written in C and is released and distributed under the terms of GNU General Public License. The operating system that supports Fisterra is Linux while the environments supported by Fisterra are Genome and X11. Fisterra 1.5 contains distributed database system using PostgreSQL. So the user can work offline or use low bandwidth lines interconnection to use Fisterra.

Fisterra framework is for the implementation of whole business management applications, ERPs or modules of other management systems. Fisterra-Base and Fisterra-Distribution are the two components of Fisterra 2.

Fisterra-Base is a three-tier architecture with GENOME 2 platform and use gobjects intensively. It provides business data code generation tool, business objects and GENOME UI manager. It supports multi-master database reapplication only for PostgreSQL. CORBA is implemented in Fisterra-Base for session management. Code generated Communications Abstraction is also present in the Fisterra-Base. CORBA is the middleware that provides the integration of Fisterra based applications with any other free or private systems.

Fisterra-Distribution provides vertical solution for the retail sector with a beta Point-Of Scale. It also provides graphical UI along with offers and item management. Fisterra-Distribution supports different payment methods like cash, credit card and check. Cash Audit and Cash Management are the other features of Fisterra-Distribution.

The older version of Fisterra supports Account Information System with VAT book, invoices management and summarizes listing. Price and stock management, multiple shops, inter shops transferences and order management are done through the Warehouse Management System of Fisterra. Invoice Management System of Fisterra looks after the invoice emission, consults, collection, charge management, general administration of enterprise positions and account conciliation.
