OpenEMR
OpenEMR is the open source Practice Management and EMR, which is written in PHP and works on Linux operating system. The OpenEMR software was originally developed by Syntech. OpenEMR and released under the terms of GNU General Public License. OpenEMR is suitable for clinics of ten or more physicians to implement and configure.
OpenEMR provides Electronic Medical Records and maintains an on-line record of users encounters. OpenEMR supports two clearinghouses, ProxyMed and Zirmed by using ANSI X12. OpenEMR allows clinics to send billing claims electronically to payers through ANSI X12 and can enter CPT and ICD codes at the end of a patient encounter.
Through the SQL Ledger of OpenEMR, medical claims and accounts works are accomplished. After the creation of medical claims file by OpenEMR, clinics can manage the outstanding patients’ balances in SQL Ledger.
OpenEMR also provides electronic or scanned digital document management for records, customizable medical encounter forms and support for HL7 messages, and voice recognition software. The calendar feature of OpenEMR includes categories of appointment, colors associated with appointment types, repeating appointments and the ability to restrict appointment on the basis of its type. OpenEMR also provides EOB data entry for payments, adjustments, write-offs and rebilling. The accessibility of OpenEMR is flexible; it can be accessed remotely from any web browser with a suitable security certificate installed.
The OpenEMR software can write prescription with an ability to write and print. PhpMyAdmin is now packaged with OpenEMR to provide advanced reporting capabilities. Moreover, OpenEMR includes numerous practice management and EMR features that can integrate OpenEMR with other applications.
