Siag Office is the open source office package written in C and Scheme. The operating system that is required to run the Siag Office package is Linux. The package contains Spreadsheet Siag, the word processor PW, the animation program Egon, the text editor XedPlus, the file manager Xfiler and the previewer Gvu.

Some features of the Siag Office package are as follows:

The Word Processor PW (Pathetic Writer): External converters such as Caolan McNamara’s WV can be used to read virtually any format including MS Word. HTML can be loaded and saved, making it possible to publish PW documents instantly on the Internet.

Spreadsheet Siag: It gives supports to MySQL database and Lago database. Stock quotes can be downloaded from Yahoo. The Spreadsheet Siag is enriched with examples for all functions, all documented in the function reference; new operators like ‘power’ and ‘quotient’, Matrix function, new updated documentation, automatically generated from the source, ‘C’ interpreter translates expressions to Scheme and many more.

Egon Animator: The animation can be written directly in Scheme or by using GUI interface. Egon supports several extension languages and file formats. The finished animation can be linked to a stand-alone program or other applications.

Xfiler: It provides virtually all of the features of a file manager- move around the directory tree in multiple windows, move, copy and delete files, launch program with simple mouse operation. Directory displays are updated automatically in regular intervals. Xfiler can automatically mount and unmount special devices like floppies as the users open and close the corresponding directories.

With multiple embedded interpreters, e.g., SIOD, Guile, Tcl, and Python and a plugin mechanism make the Siag Office package easy to use and flexible to operate.
