NASLite
NASLite is a very simple file server Linux distribution that fits on a single floppy. It is a collection of single floppy disk based Network Attached Storage (NAS) Server Operating Systems designed to transform a basic computer into a dedicated file server. So, if you have some old computers lying around, NASLite can bring back their old glories.
NASLite was developed intending for use in small business or home office network. By design, it is a community file server. It lets you take any old computer and turns it into a simple file server.
NASLite is optimized to perform maximum efficiency with minimum hardware requirements. It is compact, stable, reliable and easy to operate and to administer. NASLite is inexpensive to run and maintain. Remote administration is done through TELNET. It supports BIOS independent fixed disk drive, SMART, large partition and file and wide range of PCI hardware.
NASLite is a network file server for which fast computers are not necessary. Basic requirements to run this software are: 486DX or better processor, PCI bus, 16M or more RAM, 1 to 4 IDE fixed disk drives of any size, PCI or on board network interface adapter and 3.5” floppy disk drive.
